The Revelation
Why do people run? Some may do it for health, some may do it for pleasure, but almost all runners receive a nice and inevitable perk: the community that comes with the territory.
Running alone may give you stamina, but running with other people gives you something so much more important: a sense of belonging and identity.
The Race
A half-marathon is somewhere in the middle. It’s not really as intimidating as a full marathon, but it’s not as easy as the 10k race. That’s why you will find seasoned runners at the starting line, but also passionate beginners.
As the song goes, “meet me in the middle”, and people do exactly that. The half - marathon is the place where everybody seems to agree on one thing: running is great when it happens alongside other people.
The Reunion
We made it our quest to bring everybody together at this great spring event. We shouted out to each and every community of runners in Bucharest, starting with their home turf: the parks where they gather and the streets they run, we communicated through social media to different groups and we even gave them meeting points at the event itself!
Timeline

PHASE 1
We discovered the different communities
We travelled far and wide and identified different communities that run around different parks of Bucharest.

PHASE 2
We pep-talked everyone into running the Half Marathon
The whole community was invited, but we also wanted people to know what they’re getting into, so we gave everyone a step-by-step training program to follow, but also gave them self-confidence in every piece of communication that we put out there.

PHASE 3
We gave everyone a meetpoint at the event
Everybody came to the half-marathon, but people were surprised to find their own areas etched into different waypoints at the starting festivities. People gathered around them, tying new friendships and rekindling old ones.

When it was all said and done
We managed to surpass the number of participants from past half-marathon events, but most importantly, we managed to help forge communities along the way.
It may have been just a half-marathon, but it was the full experience.
